The VW Racing Cup is entering the final race weekend of 2018, this weekend is rounds 15 & 16 from Donington Park race circuit. As one of the series partners, Corbeau plays a pivotal role in driver safety, through our Revenge X seat and LUKE harness products. We are going to take a look back at the championship so far and see how the top 3 drivers have reached the top of the championship table heading into this weekends finale.
Jamie Bond
Championship Position – 1st (After round 14)
Bonds’ championship campaign has been built on consistency, with more podium finishes than Ruaridh Clark and Matthew Wilson combined! However, it was a long spell before he stood on top of the rostrum, 13th races to be exact! With a healthy 52 point gap, Jamie Bond is the man to beat at Donington Park.
Ruaridh Clark
Championship Position – 2nd (After round 14)
A tough start to the championship saw Ruaridh take just a handful of points from away from rounds 1 to 6. But that was just the beginning, a dazzling run of form including a double win weekend at Spa, all saw Clark rise up the championship table to 2nd Overall. Whilst it is mathematically possible to catch Jamie Bond, it is more likely he will be fighting against Matthew Wilson to hold onto 2nd place.
Matthew Wilson
Championship Position – 3rd (After round 14)
If being consistent has been the secret for Jamie Bond, it has definitely been the secret for Matthew Wilson. Always in the top 10 apart from round 14, has seen Matt steadily rise up to 3rd place overall in the championship. Whilst he may not have finished on the podium as much as his other championship contenders, he does match Jamie Bond for race wins with a fantastic victory in Round 12 at Oulton Park. He is the one to watch for the championship finale!
